Charcoal picture Olives Fall, Roots Remain - Auction for UNICEF Gaza appeal for children in need.
Olives Fall, Roots Remain
Recently inspired by time spent drawing olive trees on the Greek island of Kalamos, the artist Colin Duncan continues an ongoing exploration of these ancient, enduring forms. With a Mediterranean connection that runs deep, olive trees hold a quiet personal resonance — their gnarled trunks suggesting longevity, resilience, and memory, while their delicate leaves shimmer with shifting light and movement.
This contrast between strength and fragility sits at the heart of the work, offering a moment of reflection through a simple yet expressive charcoal study.
This is the last remaining drawing in the series of 12. The other 11 have been sold. You can see more of Colin Duncan's artwork here
